Silver Springs Florida
Silver Springs is located in Marion County North Central Florida just east of Ocala. Silver Springs State Park is open to the public for a small fee. There are many activities that you can experience at this park such as hiking, paddling, camping, boating, and bicycling just to name a few. You can also ride down Silver Springs River on a glass bottom boat and see everything beneath because the water is so clear, you can even see to the bottom. Silver Springs is one of the largest Freshwater Springs in America.
The Seminole Indians lived in this area and called it home. You can see some evidence of what is left of their settlements up and down the Ocklawaha River which runs into Silver Springs River. The state has put up some history of the tribe settlements encased with plastic that they do not really take good care of.
Best Times to Visit Silver Springs
If you do not want to be around a lot of people, then I would suggest you visit in the wintertime. You may see a couple of other people boating down the river or riding their jet skis, but I highly doubt you will see many people on paddleboards. If you like being around a lot of people, then the summertime would be better for you. It gets very hot in Florida in the summer and a lot of people like to visit the springs and rivers.
